Court bans death panel for child rape

If you think that “we the people” run this country through our elected officials the Supreme Court has once again proved you wrong. Yet again four old men and one crotchety old woman in black robes have overturned the will of the people as expressed through their State Legislature. In this case it is Louisiana that came out on the short end of the stick with SCOTUS.

The Court today struck down a Louisiana law that allowed for the death penalty for perpetrators of child rape. Two men on Louisiana’s death row will now have to be resentenced one for ...

Web Ring and Site Consolidation

Well there is a lot going on so let’s get to it. I have made a command decision here. Truth Magazine Blog is now the Official Blog of The Republican Papers our political sister site. In addition I have created a Web Ring, “Conservatism: God and Politics”, to combine all three sites, the magazine, the blog and the papers into one easily accessible place.

I have had a number of web sites sign up for the Ring so there will be a greater variety of comment and opinion… all from a Conservative and Christian perspective. Given the ...

DNC moves to Disenfranchise only half of the voters in FL & MI

It seems that Operation Chaos continues. The DNC in their meeting today decided to Disenfranchise  only half of the voters in Florida and Michigan. It seems that Howard "Screaming" Dean and the anti-Clinton forces have played their hand and "Obama's our boy!" ooops that is probably not politically correct.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democratic Party officials agreed Saturday to seat Michigan and Florida delegates with half-votes,ruling on a long-running dispute that has threatened the party's chances in November and maintaining Barack Obama's front-runner status as he moves closer to the nomination.

The decision was a blow to Hillary Rodham Clinton ...

Breaking News - Obama quits Chicago church after long controversy

2008-05-31 18:45:23
By TOM RAUM Associated Press Writer

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Barack Obama has resigned his 20 year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and more recent fiery remarks at the church by another minister.

Obama campaign communications director Robert Gibbs said Obama had submitted a letter of resignation to the church and would discuss his decision in a session with reporters later Saturday.

It happened "over the last few days," Gibbs said.

Comments by Wright have inflamed racial tensions and ...

Decision 2008 - Part IV

By Arthur R Thompson
May 30, 2008

To say that this election season has been interesting is something of an understatement. To say it has been a disaster for Conservatives is stating the obvious. As I heard Rush say on one of his shows, "we are so screwed."

No matter what happens in November Conservatism is the looser not because of what Conservatism does but because we have let our power slip through our fingers. We have elected representatives with no leadership capabilities. We have allowed the Democrats to define the issues and then agreed with them.

We ...

Jim Wallis “Defends” Barack Hussein Obama

Disingenuous does not even begin to describe Jim Wallis. I can only pray that I will be present on the day Jimmy stands before God and attempts to justify himself with the same half truths, innuendo, fallacious, deceptive, erroneous and misleading tripe that proliferates all of his commentary not just his most recent Blog “defense” of Barack Hussein Obama. << MORE >>

Random Thoughts:

“Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).” It seems that the GOP has made a number of tactical errors in their planning for this election year. The first being that Hillary would be the Democrat candidate and second that the party would unify (GOP convention theme) behind any candidate because of her negatives. “Oh, dear! What nonsense I’m talking!” << MORE >>

An Open Letter to VoteVet.com

I have never been to VoteVet.com before and will in all probably never return. I ended up there following a link from Real Clear Politics because it was dissing a statement made by Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY). The following began as a comment to their “Contact” page and quickly grew into a full blown rant. It just goes to show that not every web site with the word Vet in it has our troop’s best interest at heart.<< MORE >>

Decision 2008 - Part III Super Tuesday

Well, Super Tuesday is now history; what have we learned? Well we have learned that McCain is the darling of Independents, Moderates and the Republican Elites. We have learned that McCain does not appeal to rank and file Republicans and he certainly does not appeal to Conservatives. We learned that Huckabee has hitched his wagon to McCain; witness the WV caucuses. << MORE >>

Jim Wallis Revisited

I don’t get it. Jim Wallis of Sojourners has declared “The monologue of the Religious Right is over and a new conversation has begun!” I don’t see any signs of a new conversation but I do see signs of a new monologue. Specifically, Constantinianism of the Left. << MORE >>
